Hello,
I guess you are here because you want to know what this blog is all about, who I am and why there is a picture of a baby above. This is me, a passionate cook from Britain who loves to talk, eat, and dream about food. I could tell you that I travelled around france, trained as chef with the roux brothers, or that I took a gap year from university and toured the far east eating my way through street food and writing about it. The fact is I didn’t do any of that.
Growing up was a terrible ordeal for me, I was abused, had a un stable family life, I have seen things no adult should see let alone a child. My only comfort as a child was escaping the troubles of life with food.
My mother was the person that inspired me to cook but not in the way you expect, she was a terrible mother and made some very bad choices with us kids, her life in general and how she conducted herself as a parent, we don’t talk anymore, we haven’t seen each other for almost 8 years. The one thing I can never take from her and one thing I can thank her for is introducing me to food. We had rare and precious moments together which normally centred around food, when she wasn’t being a terrible mother and a drunk she was a great cook and probably still is, and I owe her for giving me the tools to progress as a cook.
The blog is a story of sorts, not just a collection of recipes, this is the food I like to cook at home, food I like to share with friends and family. Most (but not all) are British recipes I have learned over the years, recipes I have created and some that have been handed down to me.
So I’m hoping you will take the time to have a look through the recipes, my personal favourite is this one.
